Puppy Training

The first few months of a puppy’s life are a critical learning period. Without proper guidance, unwanted behaviors like excessive barking, jumping, and destructive chewing can develop. Early training helps shape your puppy’s behavior and prevents future problems, making life easier and more enjoyable for both of you. My personalized puppy training sessions provide one-on-one coaching to ensure you and your pup have the tools needed for a happy and well-balanced relationship. Whether you’re a first-time puppy owner or looking to reinforce good habits, I am here to help!

Behavior Modification

Behavior modification in dog training is a structured approach used to change unwanted or problematic behaviors by addressing their root causes and reinforcing positive alternatives. Unlike basic obedience training, which teaches cues like sit or stay, behavior modification focuses on addressing issues such as aggression, fear, anxiety, and leash reactivity. I like to incorporate behavior modification because it involves changing the behavioral and emotional response to triggers and strengthens new behaviors in the process. It teaches appropriate responses through counterconditioning methods, desensitization, shaping, and managing the environment with a focus on gradual exposure to triggers. Most of the techniques involved are not hard to learn and can be successfully used as preventative methods.

Hyperactivity

I have many years of experience helping dogs that suffer from hyperactivity and struggle to settle. By incorporating a variety of calming techniques and channeling excess energy into positive enrichment games I can help dogs remain calm and relaxed in a variety of situations and environments. My program can be helpful for high-energy dogs and those with anxiety or other stress-related behaviors. Relaxation training is a way of teaching your dog to bring their energy levels down and to shift into genuine relaxation on cue.

Trick Training

Teaching tricks establishes a pattern of learning, incorporates skills, is cognitively enriching, and promotes a bond between canine and human. The process of teaching your dog tricks includes foundational concepts of animal training techniques: operant conditioning, marker training, consistency, and motivation.
Do you want to train your dog to play fetch reliably to promote exercise? Or do you want to get super creative like having your dog put their toys away, dancing on their hind legs, or skateboarding? Tricks can be fun to perform, but they can also boost your dog’s confidence, provide physical exercise, and improve coordination.

Obedience Training

Fundamental obedience and proper canine behavior are essential for all dogs regardless of age or breed. I teach essential foundational skills like stay, come (recall), impulse control, down, and loose leash walking. Obedience training helps your dog learn what’s expected of them and respond consistently in various situations. More than just following commands, obedience training strengthens communication between you and your dog, building trust and respect. Whether you're starting with a puppy or refining an older dog's behavior, consistent training creates a happier, more balanced companion. My training approach focuses on positive reinforcement, clear guidance, and real-world practice to ensure lasting results.

Scent Work

Unlock your dog’s natural superpower—their incredible sense of smell! With years of experience training my own dogs in Nose Work, I’m passionate about helping dogs tap into their instinctive sniffing abilities through fun and rewarding scent work. These engaging games and exercises provide not just mental stimulation, but also physical and sensory enrichment for dogs of all ages, breeds, and sizes. Scent work is especially great for boosting confidence in shy dogs and offers a fulfilling activity that strengthens your bond while letting your pup do what they love most—sniffing!
